Chris Vigus - Chair

Chris is a retired engineering executive with lived experience through family, friends and the workplace. Chris has witnessed several lives impacted when people living with depression are not supported well or early enough. He is a passionate advocate for building stronger, healthy local communities.

Pam Crass - Vice Chair

Pam Crass is a School Chaplain of a local primary school in Busselton and a former Early childhood / Primary school teacher. Pam has lived experience supporting close family members and friends impacted by depression. Pam advocates for mental health services and suicide prevention through her workplace and community.

Herman Dykstra - Treasurer

Herman is a local farmer/business operator with qualifications in accounting and marketing.  He is passionate about serving and strengthening the local community.

Pauline Vigus - Secretary

Pauline is a retired Psychiatrist (aka Dr. Pauline Dunn) and now a Mental Health First Aid Instructor. On reading the research showing how a community committed to supporting the Alliance Against Depression goals and objectives can assist in reducing suicidal behaviour, and deaths by suicide Pauline wanted to be part of an Alliance in this local region.

Janet Pages-Oliver - Member

Janet is a registered nurse/counsellor who was born and raised in the wheat belt town of Kellerberrin. Janet has seen first-hand the ongoing effects anxiety and depression can have on both her local community and workplace clients and the lack of available resources particularly for rural people. Janet is committed to working towards closing the gaps and developing sustainable resources.

Suzie Whitfield - Member

Suzie is an accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor and global Leadership Coach with a limitless passion for human potential and mental health.  She dives in deep and fast with people to pull out their 'TRUTHs' and 'DAREs' and build traction and confidence in their most important work. Suzie has run her coaching and training practice for the last 10 years, solving problems of clarity, people, culture, efficiency & accountability.  Her experience includes guiding leaders in Government, Rio Tinto, YMCA, small business owners, Netflix actors and Olympic athletes.

Vision & Mission

A resilient Busselton – Dunsborough community with enhanced social and emotional wellbeing.

To reduce suicidal behaviour and deaths by suicide in Busselton, Dunsborough and the local environs by improving the mental health of people prone to, or experiencing depression.

Goals & Objectives

To work as a community-based organisation in:

  • improving mental health literacy,
  • reducing stigma,
  • improving knowledge of services and referral pathways,
  • identifying service gaps and the duplication of services
  • reducing barriers to care
  • training and skill - building in the community.
